Seventeen Modern Tales All the artists represented have a narrative element in their work, which is sometimes strong enough to shape the work and guide the viewer, sometimes rather loose and fragmentary in a way that is open to multiple interpretations. Most of the works in The Last Judgment Project are conceptually and materially constructed around the idea of duality. Judgment implies choice. Prejudice -- being affected by preconceived notions -- can be considered as the negation of choice. Choice in turn implies control, that is freedom and responsibility for the consequences of one's acts. The show is intended to “metabolize” spectators into the works. As a result, the spatial dimension of the artwork expands far beyond the physical borders of canvases and installations--to the people walking, standing and contemplating the pieces themselves. These humanized rooms are the very medium of the experience of The Last Judgment Project. |
